Many love to eat meat products for taste and strength. But, over consuming meat shows negative effects on the metabolic system of the human beings. The researchers have come with new outcome that, over eating meat affects kidney, while the negative effect is high on people suffering from Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD).
Patients who consume high acid diets like meat rich food will have the risk, 3 times higher than those of who takes low acid diets like fruits and vegetables.
"The high costs and suboptimal quality of life that dialysis treatments bring may be avoided by adopting a more healthy diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables," said Tanushree Banerjee from University of California, San Francisco.
The researchers have studied the lifestyle of 1,486 adults having CKD. The patients participated in National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III),and the patients were followed for a median of 14.2 years.
"Patients with chronic kidney disease may want to pay more attention to diet consumption of acid rich foods to reduce progression to kidney failure, in addition to employing recommended guidelines such as taking kidney-sparing medication and avoiding kidney toxins," Banerjeere, who received her PhD in bio-statistics from University of Delhi in 2008, said.
Hence, it is advised to the CKD patients to avoid meat food to stay long. Even the normal adults should limit their meat eating food habits for better digestive system and functioning.
