Actor Jim Kelly, who was known to be 67, and have played a often thoughtlessly American martial artist in “Enter the Dragon” accompanying Bruce Lee, has expired. Marilyn Dishman, Kelly’s ex-wife, said he died on Saturday of cancer at his home in California. Kelly, sporting an Afro hairstyle along with sideburns made a splash with his one-liners at the same time fight scenes in the 1973 martial arts classic. His later films included “Three the Hard Way,” ‘‘Black Belt Jones” and “Black Samurai.”
During a 2010 interview with Salon.com, Kelly expressed saying he started studying martial arts in 1964 in Kentucky and subsequently he moved to California. He mentioned that his role in the Bruce Lee film came into prominence when his agent called him making it his second film role.
Kelly was known to have expressed Salon.com of working on Enter the Dragon, that it was one of the best experiences in his life. Bruce was just incredible, absolutely fantastic and that he learned so much while he worked with him and as a matter of fact he enjoyed working with Bruce beyond anyone else in actuality he would ever worked with in movies due to the fact that they were both martial artists. Kelly added that he was a great, great martial artist and that expressed it was remarkable!
