The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venues for matches to be played during March 11 and April 3, 2016 for ICC World Twenty20 and Kolkata will also host the final of the event.
According to BCCI, Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamshala, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi and Kolkata will be the venues in India to host the men and women ICC World Twenty20.
"These venues will host the matches subject to fulfilling the prescribed requirements of the ICC and BCCI while adhering to the statutory obligations that are mandatory for hosting an International match," a BCCI statement said.
Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary, said: "BCCI is extremely proud to host this prestigious event. All the venues identified have hosted many prestigious matches. With this announcement, we have begun our preparations in right earnest. We want this World Twenty20 to be a memorable experience for our participants and fans. I am confident that all the venues nominated will deliver a world class event."
Managing committee for ICC World Twenty20
A managing committee, constituted by BCCI for the ICC World Twenty20 comprises Jagmohan Dalmiya, BCCI president, as chairman.
Among other committee members are Anurag Thakur, Amitabh Choudhary, BCCI’s joint secretary, Anirudh Chaudhry, BCCI treasurer. G Ganga Raju, BCCI vice president, Rajeev Shukla, IPL chairman, Ashish Shelar, Mumbai Cricket Association vice president, and Ashirbad Behera, Orissa Cricket Association secretary.
