IPL scandal 2013: Ajit Chandila gets life ban, Hiken Shah gets five-year ban

The BCCI's Disciplinary Committee slammed Ajit Chandila with life ban and Hiken Shah with five-year ban in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. President Shashank Manohar headed the committee.
On 24 December 2015, tainted cricketer Ajit Chandila and Shah personally appeared before the Committee. The committee gave them time for written response to the charges against them till 4 January 2015. Then, the committee even decided to issue a notice to Rauf for response from him to the charges against him.
On 5 January 2015, Shah appeared in person to make an oral submission as well as writted reply to the enquiry findings against him. Rauf’s request was also considered by the Committee for more time to respond to the enquiry findings against him.
Infamous IPL controversy
During the sixth IPL edition the infamous IPL controversy had broke out. Rajasthan Royals cricketers Sreesanth, Chandila and Chavan were then accused of tarnishing the game’s image. A total of 42 accused were named in the case by the special Cell of the Delhi Police, in its charge sheet. Six out of them are absconding. Among the 42 accused are underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel.
