India failed to chase the total of 444 runs scored by Australia. Indian test team led by Rohit Sharma ended up scoring 234 (63.3 Overs) on the fifth day. Australia lifts the World Test Championship trophy by defeating India with 209 runs. This is the ninth test trophy for the Australian cricket team and with this they created a history to win all the major test trophies.

At least one century from any of the Indian cricket team players might have saved India from the biggest defeat. On the fifth day, India scored 164 runs and lost 3 wickets. Rahane and Kohli took advantage of the situation, but once Kohli was caught behind, the scene changed and in the next two balls, Rahane also walked out. At the first innings, Rahane and Shardul gave up a 109 partnership, which helped India to reach 296.

Rohit Sharma accepts India's defeat and reveals that “we at least need 20 days of practice, but was here immediately after the IPL 2023 season. Even though we played well, we lost in the final.” Rohit expresses his wish for winning the next Test Championship Trophy.

Australian players Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121) turned assets for the team. By the end Australia is WTC 2023 champions.
