Google Pixel owners can now update their devices to the latest January 2025 patch, the company announced on its support page on Tuesday. The update is rolling out to the Pixel 9 series and several other older models running Android 15 and fixes issues with sound, camera, display, graphics and user interface. Additionally, it includes patches and fixes for medium-severity vulnerabilities. A Google community administrator detailed the features of the January 2025 Pixel update with build number AP4A.250105.002 on the company's support page. According to the changes, this patch fixes an audio issue that resulted in audio lag and stability issues in some apps on the Pixel 9 series, Pixel 8 series, and Pixel Tablet. Pixel 9 series users have reported two more bugs. This is a camera stability error when switching to a connected camera under certain conditions and a flashing line on the screen under certain conditions. Both were fixed after the update. It also fixes an issue that resulted in theme icon colors appearing in the Pixel Launcher under certain conditions.

The changes say that the January 2025 update includes security patches for several common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) in addition to bug fixes. This includes a fix for the reported vulnerability in Qualcomm's audio component, identified as CVE-2023-33111. Two additional vulnerabilities, CVE-2023-28583 and CVE-2023-33038, were discovered in Qualcomm's open source components and addressed in updates. All are classified as moderately difficult.
