One of the lawyer of Apple Inc. argued in a New York trial against the government's claims that the company unjustifiably raised the price of e-books in the year 2010.
Orin Synder, Apple advocate said that the company did not collude with publishers in order to increase e-book prices. He also said that e-book market was broken and was lacking in competition before Apple entered the market.
A Justice Department lawyer declared that Apple and five other book publishers in the market intentionally tried to remove Amazon's bargain price for the most favorite e-books in the market.
He added Apple did not abide by the US anti-trust laws, the five other publishers have already resolved the case.
