Yahoo Inc announced that it will soon say goodbye to Yahoo Maps and some other services for focusing exclusively on search and digital domains. The move will encourage the firm to concentrate on the specialized areas to be on top as it has been facing tough competition from Google and other companies.
Yahoo's chief architect, Amotz Maimon, has said that the maps.yahoo.com would be shut down by the end of this month. Maimon also mentioned that the Yahoo's search and other services like Yahoo's search and other services will support Yahoo Maps.
The Chief Executive Marissa Mayer has been emphasizing on the product revamps and new acquisitions to elevate revenue through media and advertising business.
The Philippines’ homepage of Yahoo would be shuttered. It will also close the Yahoo Music services in France and Canada and Yahoo Movies in Spain.
Among the other services that are on oxygen, Yahoo TV and Yahoo Autos would be stopped in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy at this month end.
However, the company has revamped its Flickr service with new features both for mobile and desktop versions. It has changed the User Interface for better interaction with the visitors. The apps pertaining to Yahoo services are overhauled for Android, iOS and Windows operating system mobiles and gadgets.
