Uber, a peer-to-peer ride-sharing, taxi cab, food delivery, a transportation network company now wants to know how intoxicated or high the app user is, before taking a ride so that it can accordingly take a call.
An application initially spotted by CNN unveils that the ride-sharing may be working on Artificial Intelligence technology that automatically detects the state of application user, if they are high or sober, before taking a ride. This will be detected by technology based on numerous factors like the typing speed of the users, the way of clicking buttons, accuracy in entering details, walking speed, the device held angle or dropped and time and day of the booking as well.
Uber AI will detect how high or intoxicated the passenger is by plugging in all these algorithms into its system and then change its services with well-experienced Uber drivers.
Uber says that the technology will prevent the users from taking pool or shared rides with Uber. The technology would not necessarily 100 percent confirm that rider is drunk, merely it could work if even there's a slight change of drunk passenger and warn the driver.
According to a CNN report, over 103 Uber drivers have been accused of sexual assault or abusing riders in the past four years. The application's ability to foretell user actions could also be used by Uber drivers to detect user's vulnerability.
