According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence, a division of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully created the lightest bulletproof vest in the country. This vest provides protection against the highest threat level 6. The design of the vest incorporates innovative materials and processes. The Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur developed this vest, which passed the necessary tests at TBRL in Chandigarh.

The vest's front hard armour panel (HAP), made of a monolithic ceramic plate with polymer backing, can withstand multiple hits from sniper rounds. The vest's ICW and standalone HAP have an areal density of less than 40 kg/m2 and 43 kg/m2, respectively. DMSRDE was commended for their achievement in creating this impenetrable vest, the accolades were given.
