Mark Zuckerberg said that competitors such as Google and OpenAI are trying to create "god" by creating basic artificial intelligence, instead of creating various tools to meet the real needs of their users. "When people in the tech industry talk about creating real artificial intelligence, I see that as a big change," Zuckerberg said in an interview with YouTuber Ken Callaway. “They think they're creating God or something. That's not the case with us." Zuckerberg made his point through the example of Google's Gemini AI and OpenAI's SatGBT, while Meta is working on a range of artificial intelligence tools for various purposes. However, he noted that Meta's AI assistant will remain and be available. "Our general view is that this is not a one-size-fits-all solution," he said. "People want to interact with different people and companies, so there is a need to create diverse AI that reflects people's different interests."
To that end, Meta is currently working on Llama 3, an open-source llama language model (LLM) that developers, researchers, and companies can use as a platform to develop their own artificial intelligence tools. Zuckerberg said that artificial intelligence will not take away jobs or stifle creativity, it just requires an open mind and a willingness to continuously learn and improve. AI tools can really be used to improve productivity, especially for creatives like social media influencers. "Essentially, we want to create more tools that empower more people, including people who don't think of themselves as creators today," he said. "Essentially, I think there's going to be a lot more creativity in the future with powerful tools that allow people to do that".
