Tips to improve your body posture

Practicing good body posture is an easy and smart way to maintain a healthy mind and body. You can alleviate common problems like back or neck pain, headaches, and fatigue by practicing right posture. So, how good is your posture? Here are few tips to help you develop and maintain good posture.

Walking on high heels:
Be cautious,  if you are walking on high heels! It can cause slipping vertebrae and lower back pain. Dominic Lee, personal trainer adviced that, "To avoid any pain or injury from wearing high heels, you need to take them off and stretch out your feet and ankles.”

Hold your handbag right:
Heavy handbags can also affect your posture. It can cause damage to your back and posture. Lee said that, "You should be using a rucksack with a shoulder strap on each shoulder, which allows you to control the distribution of weight."

Keep on moving:
Walking promotes the balance, flexibility and strength in your spine, which helps to reduce back pain. You should add at least 30-minutes walk in your daily routine. Avoid elevators and take the stairs and also walk to the nearby shops instead of driving.

Get desk savvy:
It may not be good to sit for hours on desk while working. It may lead to  severe strain on your back. You may face all sorts of  back and neck problems due to poor posture while using a computer. Lee advises that, "Make sure you are positioned directly in front of your computer with both legs parallel and feet flat on the floor, so that your body is not subjected to unnecessary rotation, which in the long term can cause pain and discomfort."

Stress less:
Mental and social stress at work place and home can cause musculoskeletal pain linked to poor posture. You should try for simple exercises, that you can easily practice at your desk, like neck and shoulder rolls. These exercises will be helpful to lengthen the muscles of neck and also stretch out shortened muscles.
