Analysis
The first half of U Turn starts on a slow pace and the director takes enough time to establish the characters. The episodes have been well written and executed. The film takes several turns as time progresses and the audience will be left on the edge of their seats. The film takes pace during the last half an hour of the first half. U Turn progresses on a serious note but the interesting narration makes the first half passable.
The second half progresses on a slow pace though the film has several interesting twists. Samantha and Aadhi Pinisetty tops the show with their flawless performances. The pre-climax episodes have been well narrated but the climax makes the film uninteresting. The film lacks a strong conflict point and the horror touch of the film is a huge let down. On the whole, the second half of U Turn is just ok and will appeal to a limited sections of audience.
Performance
Samantha has been outstanding always and delivered out one more top notch performance. She has been natural and perfect as Rachana. Aadhi Pinisetty has one more challenging role and he looks flawless as Nayak, a cop. Rahul Ravindran has a short but interesting role. He did it well. All the other actors have been decent in the film and they shined with perfection.
U Turn has a plot that has never been narrated till date. The screenplay and dialogues have been decent but it is the slow pace and lack of universal appeal that makes U Turn just an average film. The cinematography work and the background score added strength. The production values have been grand and director Pawan Kumar has been decent with his work.
Final Word
U Turn has been decent at parts but fails to impress the audience completely. Samantha and Aadhi Pinisetty have been flawless and outstanding in their assignments.
