Superstar Rajinikanth pinned many hopes on Kaala which is hitting the screens today in Telugu and Tamil languages. PA Ranjith is the director of this action thriller and Rajinikanth plays a gangster representing Dharavi slum in Mumbai. The movie has been carrying low buzz right from the day the teaser and trailers have been out. Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Nana Patekar and Samuthirakani played other pivotal roles.

Kaala released all over today and the openings have been quite low. In USA the movie managed to rake just 0.6 million USD through premieres which is very low. Kabali raked 1.925 million USD through premieres which has been remarkable. Kaala opened to 20% occupancy in USA  which is low and the word of mouth too has been poor. Santosh Narayanan composed the music and Wunderbar Films produced the film. Lyca Productions are releasing Kaala worldwide.
