Superstar Rajinikanth needs a massive hit to stand in the race. Though his films ended up decent in Tamil, they did not recover the investments in Telugu. Rajinikanth pinned all his hopes on his next film titled Darbar which is directed by AR Murugadoss. The film that is carrying decent expectations released across the globe yesterday and received decent response. The openings have been outstanding in Tamil Nadu and in Telugu states they are decent.
Darbar collected a theatrical share of Rs 4.40 crores in AP and Telangana on its first day. The theatrical rights of the film are sold for Rs 15 crores and the film should do decent during the season to end up as a safe project. Nayanthara is the leading lady and Suniel Shetty is the lead antagonist. Anirudh composed the music and Lyca Productions bankrolled the film. Here are the first day collections of Darbar:
