In a major development, the Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan has appointed four vice chancellor for different universities in the state. This came as a good news to all those who were waiting for the coveted posts. While the file containing 10 names for vice-chancellor posts reached the Governor’s office on Wednesday, he has okayed seven persons already. The new vice-chancellors for Dravidian University, Palamuru University, Potti Sriramulu University, and Adikavi Nannaya University vice-chancellors are K Ratnaiah, K Bhagyanarayana, E Shiva Reddy and George Vector respectively.
The governor will be filling the remaining VC vacancies post soon, said sources. It has to be mentioned here that these universities were functioning without vice chancellors. Apart from these universities there are another seven universities that have no vice chancellors.
Now that the Governor appointed the vice chancellors, these universities are likely to attract more students and compete with other top universities in the state. Nevertheless, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University that was established years ago is the only university that functioned with out a vice chancellor and yet produced some of the state’s best candidates in different walks of life.
