In yet another appalling incident of rape reported in the capital city,  two 27-year-old Delhi-women were gang-raped by two men in a hired car while returning from a pub in the wee hours of Thursday. The incident took place in the suburbs of Gurgaon.

Both residents of South Delhi's Tughlaqabad area, the girls had apparently gone pub-hopping on Wednesday night. They had hired a cab outside Sahara Mall to return home. On the midway,  the driver let in two other men inside the car, one of whom was last seen in the pub. The cab, instead of going towards Tughlaqabad,  took the Gurgaon-Faridabad road instead.

According to the police, the two men assaulted the women for two hours before one of the girls managed to flee when the cab halted for a brief while on the way. She ran and reported the incident to the security guard of a private colony who immediately informed the police. Petrified, the trio immediately released the other woman after driving for another 10 minutes.

Though the victims failed to  provide any lead on the registration number of the vehicle, the police assumes it was a private sedan based on the description by the women.

“We have filed an FIR and the medical examination has taken place. We are investigating the case. Based on our leads we will catch the culprits soon,” Maheshwar Dayal, deputy superintendent of Gurgaon police, said.
