Seems all is not well in BJP's “paradise”! Despite party president Rajnath Singh's endless efforts to buff up Narendra Modi as Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) PM candidate, the Gujarat chief minister and head of BJP's campaign committee has failed to find favor with other saffron satraps.

Narendra Modi's absence in the BJP campaign posters in Madhya Pradesh was a clear indication of his waning popularity within the party. Just the other day, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha stirred the pot once again by backing L. K. Advani as a 'towering statesman' and warning the party about getting self-obsessed with self-goals.

The BJP MP from Bihar said that the party should not sideline its veteran leaders like Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha, and Jaswant Singh.

Commenting on Modi's final coronation, Sinha said, "Despite Modi's popularity, Advani remains the biggest statesman, most seasoned and a highly popular leader. It would be very nice if Modi makes the cut with the blessings of Advani.”

"If there is no self-side goal within the party, Delhi will be easily within our grasp," he said, adding while some people would see his comments as being opposed to Modi, "the truth is we, including Yashwant Sinha, were the first to root for Modi".

Sinha's comments have once again put the spotlight on simmering uneasiness on Modi's pre-eminent position in the party.
