India drives with vigor towards citizens to take the bus on Tuesday as it announced an energy savings drive purposed at knocking US$5 billion off its fuel bill, which has mounted abruptly during not long past months. The nation imports beyond 75 per cent of its crude oil which is priced in dollars - and the cost has elevated dramatically due to the reason of high global prices and a submerging rupee. In addition, Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily cautioned that we need to more to conserve fuel otherwise face tougher choices such as steep price increases or even quantitative restrictions.
The recommended voluntary measures include switching off engines at traffic lights, avoiding fuel-gulping practices like frequent braking, carpooling, public transport use and tuning up vehicles to improve fuel efficiency.
Therefore, take the bus to save fuel.
