Mystery continues to loom over the death of the Tempe woman whose skeletal remains were unearthed in August after she went missing for months.
Pima County Medical examiners, who are helping the Tempe county in this case of homicide, failed to identify any obvious cause of death of the19-year-old Adrienne Salinas whose remains were discovered on August 6 in a desert wash in Apache Junction.
The autopsy report released by the Tempe Police Department on Friday reported that the young girl could have died anytime between 2 weeks to 2 months by the time her remains was recovered.
Although Salina’s body revealed signs of physical depredation, examiners believe that these defects might have surfaced after death.
A toxicology examination found traces of THC, the active cannabinoid in marijuana, in her system at the time when she died.
Salinas was last seen on June 15. Her roommates revealed that she was headed to her boyfriend's home that day. He, however said, that she never arrived.
“A witness reported seeing Adrienne’s car hit a median near her apartment that night. After locating her car the following morning, her father reported Salinas missing to police,” revealed AZ Central.
