A Chandler-based tattoo artist has created a new world record.

Matt Geiogamah, owner of "Salt and Light Tattoo” studio, has created the world record of inking most number people by a single artist in a day's time.

Geiogamah started off with his record setting endeavor at Saturday noon, hoping to quash the then current record of 801 tattoos. He had tattooed 821 people by the time he finished on Sunday noon.

Quite interestingly, the former record holder for inking maximum number of tattoos in 24-hour time was another Valley man named Hollis Cantrell from Phoenix. He set the record on Nov. 16, 2008.

All money made from the one-day event will be donated to "Streetlight USA" to help stop child sex slavery.

Geiogamah was allowed to ink one common design — a cross — to create a new Guinness record.
