The mysterious "Tips for Jesus" diner who has been doling out big tips on restaurant bills across the country lately has apparently left a $2,500 tip at Crudo in Phoenix.
The latest photo on the tipper's Instagram account - @tipsforjesus - shows the mixologist Cas well as co-owner of Crudo, Micah Olson holding a receipt with a $2,500 gratuity on a $530.67 bill.
The man had dined at the restaurant on Tuesday, and left a note on the receipt that read: "best restaurant in Phoenix. Visit Micah at Crudo."
"He was a super normal guy, slid up to the bar and settled into a few glasses of Pappy 23 bourbon. It's one of my favorite spirits, so naturally we chatted a bit. Before leaving he asked if I’ve heard of TipsForJesus and let me know I might get a few phone calls tomorrow. It wasn't until he left that I noticed the tip," Olson told The Republic via e-mail Wednesday.
The Tips for Jesus user has nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram.
His profile reads: “Doing the Lord’s work, one tip at a time.” The first photo post was of a $3,000 tip on an $87.98 bill on Sept. 8 at Bar Louie in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Since then, @tipsforjesus has appeared several times, posting photos of a $10,000 tip on a $265.96 bill at the Hungry Cat in Hollywood; $5,000 on $84.05 at Legends of Notre Dame in Southbend, Ind.; and $5,000 on $576.50 at Moondogs, Too in Port Orchard, Wash.
