A 32-year-old foster mother has been sentenced to 100 days imprisonment for accidentally drowning an 8-month-old baby while bathing.
Superior Court Commissioner Derek Carlisle doled out the verdict to Elizabeth Dawn Stone booked for negligent homicide in the Sept. 25, 2011 incident at her home.
According to the Sheriff's office, Stone discovered the infant drowned in the tub when she returned to the bathroom after fetching a towel, answering the phone and speaking briefly with her then-fiance, who is now her husband.
Detectives believed Stone was out of the bathroom for about five minutes. All attempts to revive the infant proved futile.
The infant suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome and was placed into Stone's care by the Hualapai Tribe.
