Doctor dies in a fatal base jump fall in Grand Canyon

A 41-year old Canadian physician cum base-jumper was killed in a fatal  fall in northern Arizona near the Grand Canyon on Friday.

The dead body of respirologist from Calgary, Dr. David Stather, was redeemed from the gorge on Saturday.

Apparently, he was reported missing by two fellow jumpers after he attempted a second jump late Friday.

The Sheriff's Office says Stather was wearing a wing suit and that his body was found on a canyon ledge near the confluence of the Colorado and Little Colorado rivers.

The jumpers who reported Stather missing were waiting for him at the bottom. It was when they climbed to the top and saw Stather's wing suit about 2,000 feet below the cliff, the called the authorities.
