The Arizona football team dismissed sophomore tailback Orlando Bradford after he was arrested on charges of seven felony counts of domestic violence.
A Tucson Police Department spokesman, Sgt.Pete Dugan, said that, Bradford is facing four counts of domestic violence aggravated assault and three counts of domestic violence kidnapping.
According to Dugan, the duplicate charges stem from multiple crimes committed over several days. As the victim contacted Tucson Police Department, the officers investigated and arrested Bradford shortly thereafter. He is being booked into Pima County Jail.
A statement by University of Arizona on behalf of Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez and the athletic department, said that, “Earlier today, we were made aware that Orlando Bradford had been arrested. As a result of his actions, he has been dismissed from the program.”
AZCentral reported, Bradford, a sophomore from Shreveport, Los Angeles, showed great promise late last season. He rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries in the season-ending New Mexico Bowl. He finished the year with 47 carries for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
Bradford was listed as a co-starter with junior Nick Wilson on the depth chart. However, through two games, Wilson had 41 carries to Bradford’s five.
