The body parts discovered near 24th Avenue and Broadway Road just around 3:30 p.m. after the Phoenix police officers responded to a call.
According to the police spokeswoman Sgt. Mercedes Fortune, witnesses directed officers to an open commercial yard where the human remains were found. The remains were in a skeletal state, officers said.
The detectives believe the case is related to last week’s discovery of human remains found near 25th Avenue and Broadway Road, Fortune said. The parts included a severed arm.
Earlier in July, human remains were found nearby in a sewer line. Residents of the Paceo Point subdivision, near 55th Avenue and Baseline Road, reported water being backed up on July 20.
Phoenix Water Department employees found the blockage, human remains, and called police.
Fortune said the investigation was ongoing in response to a question if the cases might be linked.
