According to the reports there are a few changes that are going to take place in driver’s license test in the coming weeks; the changes would involve what one should do, if they are pulled by a cop.
The new written test will have a quiz prospective to drivers about what to do, if an officer pulls over a driver.
State Republican Reginald Bolding said that there was a major misalignment between what officers expect and what motorist expect, when they are stopped by the police officers.
The Democratic state lawmaker represents House District 27, which covers parts of Central and South Phoenix, Western Tempe, and portions of Maricopa County south of Ahwatukee and Chandler.
Rep. Bolding said as of now Arizona does not have, a driver or officer protocol during a traffic stop, there are chances that this can pose a major danger to both the parties concerned.
He said one of the major misconceptions was that if someone is pulled over by an officer, he/she immediately reaches into the glove compartment, grab the registration and have it prepare for the officer.
Bolding suggested that was not the right thing to do, because the officer may have no clue about what he/she are moving for or grabbing for.
In addition to turn off the radio, the handbook will also provide few other tips, like rolling down the window, keeping both hands on the steering wheel, and turning on your dome light.
President of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association Ken Crane thinks it is just good common sense. He said that many drivers could use a refresher about what to do, when they see the red and blue lights.
Along with the tips, the new handbook will also teach driver their rights, when they are interacting with an officer.
