Hauman Jayanthi celebrations in Arizona

Hanuman Jayanthi commemorates the birth of Lord Hanuman, it is celebrated widely throughout India on the 15th  day of Shukla Paksha, during the month of Chaitra of the Hindu calendar.

Lord Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and he is worshipped for his unflinching devotion. From early morning on the day of Hanuman Jayanthi, devotees visit Hanuman temples to worship him.

Lord Hanuman is the symbol of strength and energy. He is said to be able to assume any form at will, move mountains, seize the clouds and rival Garuda in swiftness of flight. Lord Hanuman is a deity with magical powers and the ability to conquer evil spirits.

The devotees visit temples and apply tilak of sindoor to their foreheads from Hanuman's idol

Lord Rama’s wife Sita applied ‘sindhoor’ on her forehead, Lord Haunman asked about its significance. He was told that the sindhoor is for the long life of her husband. Hearing this Lord Hauman applied sidhoor all over his body praying for immortality of Lord Rama.

The Indo American Foundation of Arizona is organizing the celebrations of Hanuman Jayanthi on April 10th, at Ekta Mandir 2804 W Maryland Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85017, 5:00 p.m. onwards.

Devotees are requested to bring oil, Sindhoor, Flowers, Fruits, Prasad for offering.
