“One Bag At A Time” In Arizona Helps Homeless

Living On streets is extremely tough for homeless with constant heat and lack of resources, it can be difficult to escape transient lifestyle. NGO “One Bag At A Time” in Arizona helps homeless.

One Bag At A Time is Non-Profit Organization that provides meals, toiletries and clothes for Arizona’s homeless population. This organization was Founded by Glendale resident Andy Hobaica, they volunteered twice a month in different parts of the valley.

Many are benefited by this organization, one of them was Kenneth Westbrook, 58. he lived on streets in Phoenix when he was younger he would often come across volunteers while walking down the street.

He said this organization has helped many young people living on streets in gaining the perspective that it’s possible for their situations to change.

“You’ve got 18 and 19 years old out there on streets and now they have different programs to help,” Westbrook said.

The non-profit is a coalition of local families and volunteers who help the organization achieve their basic principle of filling an individual’s needs when they live on streets.

This NGO donates everything from Non-perishable food items to baby wipes. They have food, socks, personal care that they directly deliver to those in need.

They also accept company donations and they received donations from Gatorade and 1200 bags from Tuft & Needle. They want as many people possible to join this moment.

Hobiaca says, “We’re just helping those in need and giving them stuff they need”, “on a normal day put yourself In their shoes and think what would you need if you are homeless?”.

He says that people should come out not only because they provide food and supplies but they are in the “business of giving out smiles” as well.
