On Sunday Jan 21st, over 22,000 marchers gathered to protest the first anniversary of Trump in office. There were several marches all across Arizona this Sunday, in addition to millions all over the world who marched, in support of women empowerment. The women’s march in AZ, aimed for equality and justice, all over the state, to protest anniversary of Trump’s first day in office.

Speakers rallied the crowd before proceeding towards the Capitol building in downtown, Phoenix. This 2 mile march still holds strong after one year of beginning protests against the Trump administration. The theme of this march was "Women's March to the Polls"

This growing international movement is a sharp rebuke to Trump’s presidency and this years marks yet another highlight for being on the time when #Metoo movement is spearheading everywhere. The sexual misconduct and social stigmas posted by this #Metoo movement has fueled this years march. And this is just a few months ahead of mid term elections when these progressive women hope to turn tables by converting this activism into victory at the ballot box.

Kelley Robinson, Planned Parenthood's national organizing director said, "It's a time where we're not just showing up, folks are saying that, 'Hey, we actually need to be sitting in those chairs,'" Robinson said. "You know, so everyone who was out in the airports rallying last year and marching in the streets, many of them are now sitting in state legislatures across the country. It's a powerful moment that we're in." She also said that is is "nothing new for women to be involved in elections," and that movement which began a year back "is evolving into something more powerful every single day."

In Tucson over 200 women gathered to organize a vigil after the march, at Armory park downtown. "The people in control in Washington don't hear our voices," event organizer Pamela Bickell said. "They ignore our calls and letters." The theme of this vigil was  "A trillion acts of love."

"Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March," Trump wrote. "Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months. Lowest female unemployment in 18 years!"
