Since fierce protests in Haiti over fuel prices continued, young groups from multiple United States churches have persisted in the Caribbean nation, unable to get to the airport to travel home.  

The not-for-profit My Life Speaks, that aims to develop a Christ-Centered community in Neply, Haiti said the mission teams from Woodland Community Church in Bradenton, Florida and the Glade Church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee have stayed in Haiti, unable to reach the airport due to protests and obstructions.

On Friday, major protests broke out in Haiti on Friday as the government proclaimed a sharp increase in gasoline prices. But the rise was suspended on Saturday after hostility broke out in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and the northern city of Cap-Haitien.

According to a report by The Associated Press, in the protests, at least three people were killed, including two protesters who were fatally shot as demonstrators clashed with police, however it was ill-defined who shot the two men.

A security guard was as well killed after getting out of a vehicle and fired a gun into the air in an effort to scatter protesters. According to a report, a group of protesters beats him to death.

"We ask that you continue to pray for us, the Haitian people who are hurting and those innocent people caught in the middle of this moment," My Life Speaks said on Facebook.

Another youth group, in addition from the Faith Community Church in Trussville, Alabama likewise be isolated in Haiti on Saturday.
