Arizona National Guard Unit to Deploy to Afghanistan

Arizona Army National Guard members of more than two dozen are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

A send-off ceremony will be held by the Arizona National Guard on Tuesday morning at the Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix.

The enlisted persons are based in the 856th Military Police Company.

They will head to Afghanistan to serve a nine-month deployment.

Major General Michael T. McGuire, the state's adjutant general, will be the keynote speaker at the 7 a.m. ceremony.
