Another unit of Arizona emergency responders are deployed in North Carolina to aid with hurricane relief efforts.
About 12 personnel team from agencies as well as the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Peoria Fire, Central Arizona Fire and Medical, and Pine-Strawberry Fire are staging in Raleigh and waiting for orders from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist in any manner they can as flooding batters the area.
The crew flew into North Carolina on one of the last flights out of Phoenix to Raleigh Wednesday afternoon.
Since then, they have been told to hunker down in a hotel and wait for the storm to pass.
This afternoon in a Facetime interview, Tiffany Davila with the Department of Forestry said that they have had multiple briefings with FEMA directors, and it’s possible they will be sent two hours south to the community of Laurinburg to provide disaster relief there, but plans could change based on the need.
"We could be doing anything from delivering bottled water, checking and going door to door, making sure people either aren't home or if they are home that they are OK. We could be working in a county EOC, assisting a town, so we're really going to do anything the state of North Carolina needs us to help with," said Davila.

Davila says many businesses in Raleigh are closed. The few stores that are open have empty shelves. Their hotel is full of evacuees.
She says the weather was quiet up until this afternoon, now they are dealing with some rain, wind, and flooding.
Another group of Phoenix emergency responders, made up of thirty-five firefighters and police officers, are also in North Carolina.
Both teams responded when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas earlier this year.
Crews are prepared to be gone from home for two weeks, but they will stay longer if required.
