Plane crash at Kazakhstan: Bek Air plane with 100 on board crashes at Almaty airport

A plane crash in Kazakhstan carrying 5 crew members and 95 passengers, killed at least nine people, says officials.

According to the officials, the aircraft has crashed shortly after taking off near Almaty city in Kazakhstan on Friday. The flight Z2100 was being operated by Kazakhstan-based Bek Air and was scheduled to fly from Almaty which is the country’s largest city to the capital Nur-Sultan.

Though the cause of the crash was not known, heavy fog persisted in the area where the Bek Air plane was crashed says a reporter close to the scene. An investigation will be done and special commission will be set up in order to find the cause and circumstances of the crash.

According to the Almaty aviation authorities, the plane has “lost altitude after takeoff and broke through a concrete fence,” before colliding with a two-story building at approximately 7:22 a.m. there exists no reports of fire following the crash and it is said that emergency responders were working at the scene in order to evacuate the passengers and the crew members from the wreckage.
