Reports suggest that two new born babies died in hospitals in Jharkhand and Rajasthan after the hospitals refused to treat the Muslim mothers.
A Muslim woman in Jharkhand miscarried after she was barred from getting any treatments from the hospital in the MGM Hospital in Jharkhand. The victim, Rizwana Khatun, rushed to the hospital after she started bleeding, which is not normal during pregnancy term.
The authorities accused her of spreading the infection and even assaulted her physically and were asked to clean up her own blood.
This was not the first case of mistreatment of the Muslims following the rising Islamophobia in the country following the Tablighi Jamaat congregation.
Earlier this month, a baby died in Bharatpur district in Rajasthan after a government hospital straight up refused to admit the mother.
Majority of the individuals from the ruling part in India have accused the rampant spread of the novel coronavirus because of the Muslim missionary group meeting that was conducted in Nizamuddin in Delhi.
The Indian government has also reported that around 30% of the confirmed cases in India has been because of the Tablighi Jamaat meeting. Several of the Muslim leaders have asked for an in-depth investigation of the case saying that this would not be taken as a chance to attack a particular community.
Despite all of the measures, a hospital in Uttar Pradesh even ran an advertisement saying that they wouldn’t admit any Muslims without getting them tested for Covid-19. The same kind of treatment is not being imposed on people of other religious beliefs.
Several of the hospitals in Telangana have also barred the entry of Muslims for treatment.
Many Muslims have also reported an increase in hostility across the country saying that they are also being refused to enter pharmacies and grocery stores.
