With the constant protests against the stay at home orders in US hindering the medics from going to work, they decided to retaliate in a peaceful way.
Medics blocked the roads and traffic in their scrubs, preventing the protestors from going forward.
One of the protestors even retaliated saying “if you can go to work, why can’t I?” holding another “land of the free” placard in her hand.
The irate protestor was on her way to a demonstration that was being conducted at the Capitol Building in Denver. But, their way was blocked by a few people who identified themselves as medics and were standing in the middle of the roads in their scrubs.
Promoted under the tag of “Operation Gridlock”, hundreds of protestors gathered around in Denver on Sunday insisting that the shutdown was proving fatal for the economic status of their lives. They said that they couldn’t afford being out of work anymore at this point.
To protest against the protestors, these demonstrators were stopped by the medics wearing green scrubs and facemasks and served as a reminder of why the shutdown and stay at home orders were a necessity at this point.
“Go to China if you want communism. This is a free country,” the women screamed at the top of her lungs.
The US has already seen widespread demonstrations around against a lot of lockdown measures that have been implemented to stop the further spread of the disease. In retaliation to that, over 22 million people in the US have lost their jobs.
Aside from US, protests against the lockdown and stay at home orders have also extended to a number of other countries including Brazil, Kenya, Israel, Paris, India, Iraq etc. Over half of the global population is under a completely lockdown.
While US governors are trying to further contain the spread of the virus, President Trump’s praise for the action of these protestors have further given them the motivation to keep going on with their constant acts.
“I've seen interviews of the people. These are great people. I've seen interviews of the people. These are great They are picketing a little bit because they want to get back to work. They've got cabin fever. They want their lives back,” said Donald Trump.
Governor Jay Inslee retaliated saying that such encouragements from the President are nothing short of “schizophrenic” at this point. He said that he hasn’t seen in the history of America such a president who works to violate the laws of the country and that too for something so severe.
With the growing impacts on the economy of the country, Trump has been looking for ways to further ease the restrictions. Several governors have reported about the shortage of tests which the health experts believe is the safest way to get people back to work.
US is currently conducting around 2 million tests per day. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Head of the Infectious Disease department in the National Institute of Health said that this needs to be tripled at this point.
Dr Fauci even warned these protestors saying that the early lifting of the restrictions can end up imposing an even worse situation for the country. It could backfire and again hold impacts on the economy of the country.
