Many sources were in talks to develop vaccinations for COVID-19. But none of the candidate vaccines have shown a “clear signal” of efficacy. WHO Spokeswoman, Margaret Harris said in a meeting that they are expecting the widespread COVID vaccination to come next year mid.
Russia COVID-19 vaccine got regulatory approval in August after less than two months of human testing. Also prompted the Western experts to test its safety and efficacy.
U.S Public health officials and Pfizer Inc said that the vaccine could be available for distribution at the end of October.
Harris said “We are not expecting to see widespread vaccination until the middle of next year”. She was stressing on the importance of their effectiveness and safety.
Then Harris spoke about the vaccine clinical trials- she says the phase 3 must take longer to see how truly the vaccine is protective and also need to test how safe it is.
There is an ongoing global vaccine allocation by both The WHO and GAVI. The vaccine allocation plan is known as COVAX. The priority of vaccination goes to high risk people in every country such as health care workers and other frontline workers
