In an opening trade on Thursday, the rupee value ascended to 74.29 against US dollar. The ascended value is 47 paise.
According to traders, the local unit has received support from positive domestic equities and weak American currency. When the interbank forex market first opened, it touched 74.35. Later it touched 74.29 over its previous close.
The situation on Wednesday was entirely different. The rupee against 74.76 of the US dollar was to close at its weak level at 35 paise.
The dollar index was trading 0.07 per cent down at 93.34. While we look at the domestic equity market, 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex was trading 562.62 points higher at 41,178.76 and broader NSE Nifty surged 167.75 points to 12,076.25.
As per the provisional exchange data, shares worth Rs 146.22 crore were purchased by the Foreign institutional investors in the capital market.
Brent crude futures, fell 1.65 percent to USD 40.55 per barrel.
