A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan opened fire and four of his colleagues lost their lives while another was critically injured. The incident took place on Sunday morning between 9:30 AM and 9:45 AM as per the 144th battalion in Khasa region in Amristar. The accused is identified as Sateppa SK and the 35-year-old hailed from Karnataka. He is reportedly upset with the duty hours and opened fire. He even shot some of the vehicles and a detailed investigation is on. The officers are investigating if he opened fire to shoot himself or if he was intentional to shoot his colleagues. Asif Jalal, the BSF Inspector General for Punjab told that there was no enmity issue.
The accused was unwell recently and he was taken to a nearby private hospital. He was discharged recently after he was well. Right after he entered the camp, Sateppa took his weapon and started shooting. A court inquiry was ordered in the incident to dig out the facts. All the victims are in the ranks fo constable and a head constable. The fifth jawan is rushed to a private hospital and he is battling for life. Sateppa is taken into custody and medical tests are conducted.
