India took over the G20 Presidency today and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called to shift the mindset to benefit the humanity as a whole. The year long G20 Presidency will be action oriented and is ambitious and decisive told Narendra Modi. He added that it would encourage a honest conversation that are posed by the weapons of mass destruction and will enhance global security. Narendra Modi said that India started G20 Presidency to focus on counter terrorism and stay united in tackling several global challenges like climatic crisis and economic slowdown. The Indian government also sought to build consensus on debt sustainability to create disaster and climate-resilient infrastructure. The plans of G20 Presidency from India also have a special focus on the startups and turn a bridge between the digital divide.
A total number of 200 meetings will be held across the nation in the next one year and the first one will be held in Udaipur later this week. G20 Summit will be organized in New Delhi in September 2023. S Jaishankar, the country's External Affairs Minister revealed that the G20 platform will forge the common ground on several key issues among the active and prominent countries of the globe. The government is spending a bomb as more than 100 monuments of the country including the UNESCO world heritage sites will be lit up with the G20 Logo for a week. Narendra Modi unveiled the logo of G20 Presidency last month. It comes with a lotus flower and a globe. "One Earth, One Family, One Future" is the theme. India received the G20 Presidency at the closing ceremony of G20 Summit in Bali on November 15th and 16th.
