Tension prevails in Taiwan after China launched military drills around an island on Saturday as a warning. Lai, the frontrunner in Taiwan’s presidential election next year, he has returned from a trip to Paraguay. While he was travelling he stopped in New York and San Francisco. For his US stop, China reacted angrily and launched a military drill.

They claim that Lei is a troublemaker. They have launched joint air and sea patrols and military exercises around the island in Taiwan as an exercise for the navy and air force. The drill involved 26 warplanes.

Xinhua claims that the drill is a warning to the Taiwan Independence for their meeting with the foreign elements, which is a provocative move and also said to check the real combat conditions. Taiwan has strongly condemned the provocative acts of The People’s Liberation.

However, Taiwan's Institute for National Defense and Security Research said that the PLA exercise was moderate.

They also said that the acts of China would bring positivity to William Lai and would mount pressure on Taiwan. Even the last military action in Taiwan by China has helped Lai’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), who is said to be pro-Washington.

The United States claimed that Lai's visit was routine travel, where he travelled from Paraguay with a stop at New York via San Francisco.
