Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Neerja' is based on the heroic deed of a flight attendant named Neerja Bhanot, who saved 360 people at the cost of her own life. She was the first civilian and the youngest person to receive the Ashok Chakra, highest peacetime gallantry award of India.
But, according to Neeraja Bhanot's fellow crew members, the biopic is more fictional than real. Nupoor Abrol, one of the crew members of Pam Am Flight 73, wrote in her Facebook account that "Yes, truly a very difficult moment. But also a difficult moment for all those flight attendants to accept the movie for what it is unfairly propagating. Neerja was a wonderful person and I think even her soul today would cringe at taking this undeserved adulation. Not fair to the FA's who have in reality faced their ordeal!"
She went on to say, "Oh no! I was incidental in that plot. It was Astrid, Sherene, Sunshine and off course Massey who were the real heroes of the day. I am glad today I can show my gratitude to them."
One of the crew members, Astrid Lobo wrote, “Nupoor Abrol I totally agree with you this movie is pure fiction not reality very unfair to all the rest of crew.”Mean while, Sonam Kapoor's performance in ‘Neerja’ got a huge applaud from audience. The actress won many hearts already, for her performance in Ram Madhvani's film. She is being appreciated alike by critics as well as viewers.
But Sonam’s father Anil Kapoor feels that she still needs to improve a lot. He told while talking to IANS that, "One might be best actor or actress in the world but he/she has to keep on learning, same goes for Sonam. No matter how much praise she gets for her performance and whatever anyone says, she still has to improve more and more." The actor also mentioned that the success of the film triggered a huge emotional reaction in the family.
