Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has won the ‘Global Indian of the Year’ award. The actress was honored at NRI of the Year award function. The 42 year old actress dedicated the award to Aaradhya, her daughter.
In a statement Aishwarya said, “I was very passionate about making it more than a perceived beauty pageant. For me, I all along believed that it was the opportunity to represent an Indian woman on the international platform. I believe that from then until today, in 2016, it continues,”
“I am glad to have been chosen to be a feature film artist and a career woman. I have had so many opportunities, personally, professionally, socially,” said the “Dhoom 2” actress. The actress will be next seen in “Sarabjit” alongside Richa Chadha and Randeep Hooda.
Sania Mirza also received NRI of the Year Award 2016
Not only Aishwarya, Sania Mirza also won the honor at the NRI of the Year Award 2016. Sania is a noted tennis player. A total of 17 individuals were awarded under various categories such as professional, philanthropy, entrepreneur, academics, arts & culture, special jury award, India’s global icon award and global icon of the year award.
The NRI of the Year Award is the one that recognizes global outstanding achievements of the Indian diaspora.
