Ghulam Ali Cancels All Performances In India, Expresses Disappointment

Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali has cancelled all scheduled performances in India. Earlier his concert in Mumbai was called off due to Shiv Sena’s resisitance. He said that he will not return to India until thing get settled and expressed disappointment over the recent incidents. He also asserted that Indian fans have had open arms always to welcome him and his music.

Ghulam Ali told CNN-IBN news channel that, “I have cancelled all my future concerts in India, will never come back to India. I will not perform until things settle down. I'm hurt by recent incidents in India. As of now I have decided not to come to India. Indian fans have been very supportive. I'm a singer, I will talk about music, not politics.”
It is known that his scheduled concerts, including the one in Delhi and another in Lucknow, have been scrapped. ibnlive.com report indicates that Ghulam Ali is "hurt by the politics being played over his concerts in India" and "how political points were trying to score brownie points by not letting him perform in India."
The singer entered into Indian cinema with his popular song "Chupke chupke raat din" for B.R. Chopra's "Nikaah". After the singer was stopped from performing in Mumbai and Pune earlier, a debate sprout with artists across sections urged to keep art away from politics.
