Last month, Sandeep Reddy Vanga unveiled his latest masterpiece, Animal, which shattered numerous box office records. Film enthusiasts showered their adoration upon the talented cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri. Even renowned filmmaker Karan Johar acknowledged that this action-packed thriller is the standout movie of the year. On December 1, 2023, Animal was unleashed upon the world, captivating audiences who eagerly lined up outside theaters to secure a seat. Johar, not only a fan but also a creator in his own right, believes that the film's success is well-deserved.
During a conversation with Galatta Plus, he shared that after expressing his admiration for Animal, individuals approached him, commenting, "You made Rocky aur Rani, which serves as the antidote to a film like Animal. It's the complete opposite." Johar responded by respectfully disagreeing, asserting, "I couldn't disagree more because, in my opinion, Animal is the finest film I've produced this year. It took me some time to come to this realization and muster the courage to state it, as the fear of judgment looms when you're surrounded by others." He also mentioned his fondness for Kabir Singh, another cinematic gem.
In an interview, the director of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani expressed his admiration for the film Animal, highlighting its unique and strong storytelling approach. He emphasized how the film breaks away from the norms of mainstream cinema, challenging conventions and delivering a narrative filled with conviction. The director found particular brilliance in a scene where the hero is being beaten up while a song is being sung, a sequence unlike anything he had seen before.
Additionally, he revealed that during the intense climax where Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol confront each other, he was moved to tears. Witnessing the raw emotion and the powerful combination of blood and music, he acknowledged that there was something extraordinary about the film, attributing it to the distinct and individualistic mind behind it. The director concluded by expressing his awe and being completely blown away by the remarkable work.
Johar shared, "I had the pleasure of watching the film on two occasions. Initially, I experienced it as a member of the audience, and then I delved deeper to analyze its intricacies. In my opinion, Animal's triumph, its widespread approval, and the film itself have the power to revolutionize the game."
