On days when you yearn for a mouthful of crunchy-munchy snack to accompany your evening tea, but don't really want to break your back rolling out some arduous snack, trust bread pakodas to bail you out. Bread rolled in thick gram flour batter and fried crispy makes a great tiffin box option too. Just get some green or sweet chutney to dip them into, and voila! You have a yummy snack at hand in almost no time. Read on for the recipes.
Ingredients
Bread, cut into desired sized pieces 10-12 slices
For the batter:
200 gm besan (gram flour)
Water
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp haldi (turmeric )
1 tsp jeera (cumin), crushed
Salt to taste
1 tsp meetha soda (soda bi-carbonate)
Oil for deep frying
Chaat masala to garnish
Instructions
Make a thick batter with water, flour, red chilli powder, cumin, turmeric, salt and soda bi-carb.
Coat each piece of bread with the batter and deep fry.
Sprinkle with chaat masala and serve with ketchup or chutney.
