Jackfruit is a seasonal fruit which tastes delicious both in raw (when prepared as curry) as well as when ripe. It is an important fruit in India and other Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Myanmar. It is considered to be largest tree borne fruit. Jackfruit and its seed are low in calories and good source of potassium, vitamins, proteins and other nutrients.
So bring this summer a piece of raw jackfruit and try out this delicious recipe.
Ingredients:
Peeled raw Jackfruit slices (2 cups)
Coconut oil (for deep fry)
A pinch of turmeric powder
Salt (to taste)
Method:
Mix turmeric powder to the slice of Jackfruit in large bowl. Keep it aside for 5-10 minutes.
Heat the coconut oil in large thick bottomed pan, when the oil has reached its boiling point, drop the slices slowly into it.
Stir immediately so that they do not get stuck to each other.
Deep fry until it becomes golden brown and crisp. Remove the chips when done and sprinkle salt over it.
Mix it well.
Eat it instantly or can store it in an air tight container.
