Look who this family has for their morning breakfast?

A six-year-old humped friend - Joe, the camel.

"The 5 ft 8in Bactrian camel turns up unannounced to munch his way through carrots, bananas, bread, cereal and fruit - but not cheese. He is the only animal on the family's farm in Stow, Staffordshire, to share his mealtimes with his owners, while the other 73 animals – including three female camels, reindeer, tortoises and giant snails – have hay, barley, and straw to eat."

‘The first time Joe joined us for breakfast he was uninvited,’ said Nathan Anderson-Dixon.

‘He leaned in and rudely helped himself to the fruit bowl. But I wasn’t surprised because he’s very good at persuading all the other animals to give him their food too.

‘He is eating us out of house and home, but we can’t get angry at him. He is like a big soft giant teddy bear and has become part of the family.

‘Despite his regular visits, Joe hasn’t mastered a knife and fork yet.

‘He is a messy eater and the mess he leaves takes ages to clean up. He has no table manners,’ Nathan joked.

The couple run The Animal Company, a firm which supplies animals for hire including for film, TV, commercials and events.
