Indian student Association (ISA) at Arizona State University (ASU) is now immersed in preparations and arrangements for their annual cultural fiesta, ‘Jhankaar 2015’, which is scheduled to happen on 25 October 2015 to show up ‘India over the years’. The event would highlight dance, music, arts, theatre, and literature and ISA invites all enthusiasts to take part in the event and use the stage to show off their talent. Contests at Jhankaar 2015

Contests like Photography and Short-film are organized by the ISA with a compulsion that all entries are expected to adhere to few rules. The rules include theme options like “Scene change: India to US of A” or own theme, which is creative. Entry to all ASU students is free. Short film should not exceed five minutes. Credentials like opening and closing are not essential, but if included may be for more 10 seconds in total. There is no language restriction on short films or may not also have a dialogue. However, the rule is that the language audio should have subtitles in English. Every content in the film is to be own, without vulgarity or offense targeting anyone or any community. It the above rules are not satisfied, the film gets disqualified.

Criteria for judging is based on the quality of the video, extent to which it conveys a sense of adventure or exploration and quality of description along with relationship with the theme. On the day of the big event, Jhankaar 2015, prizes would be awarded to the winners. And the most exciting thing is that the three best short-films would be screened on the day of the event.

Even to photography contest, themes same as that of Short-film contest are applicable. Photographs are to be submitted only in JPEG format or JPG format. Minor color correction, dodging, burning, Fish-eye lenses and hand tinting as is cropping is acceptable. If the combined parts are made around the same time, panoramas and HDR are acceptable. The digital file images will not be returned back, even though you retain copy-rights. Objectionable content is not acceptable. Each contestant must submit five photographs with description. If the rules are disobeyed, the entrant will be disqualified. Criteria for judging is based on quality of Photography, extent to which it conveys a sense of adventure or exploration and quality of description along with relationship with the theme. Best tem photographs will be displayed during Jhankaar 2015.

The ISA organizers are expecting huge response and thus, invited the volunteers to come up to take part in the event Jhankaar 2015. First 30 volunteers would be presented with special event T shirts.
