The idea behind Balagokulam of HSS USA is that every child has a divine spark within and the forum would help children discover and manifest that divinity. Hindu children in the US will be enabled to appreciate their cultural roots besides learning Hindu values through Balagokulam. All the activities of Balagokulam would contribute in that direction. They include yoga, games, stories, bhajans, shlokas, arts as well as crafts. Activities - Balagokulam
Activities are planned at Balagokulam keeping in mind the physical, social, intellectual and spiritual development of children. Weekly activities include games, yoga, stories, bhajans, shlokas, arts and crafts. Special events include festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Pooja and Guru Pooja, besides Hindu heritage camps. Children are also allowed to take part in community service as sewa or service is the best way to realize divinity within and serve those who are needy.
Balagokulam magazine
Interestingly, children contribute a lot to the magazine content including articles, poems, paintings, crossword puzzles, stories, and more! The content published would be best items picked from work of children by team of volunteers. Items will be picked from contests of each age group for each section. The Balagokulam magazine is playing a vital role in introducing Hindu heritage to children in the language easily understandable to them. The magazine has become so popular among Kids in the US, that it was also rated as the "Best Hindu Children's Website in America" by HinduNet.
